Alex Leeds, a Miami mother of three, received two follow-up phone calls from My Home Doctor after a physician visited her home to examine her 3-year-old daughter in May. "That follow-up never happens with my pediatrician's office. Never," Ms. Leeds said.

She called My Home Doctor after her daughter developed a fever late one evening after the pediatrician's office had closed. Her husband was out of town, and she didn't want to haul her daughter and two other children, ages 7 and 10, to the emergency room. The physician arrived, diagnosed a throat infection and gave her a two-day dose of an antibiotic until she could get to a pharmacy.

My Home Doctor, a group of South Florida physicians, treats non-emergency medical conditions in the tri-county area, including fever, respiratory and ear infections, allergies and rashes, strep throat, urinary tract infections, flu, upset stomach and headaches.

Currently, My Home Doctor has seven doctors on call. All are board-certified, licensed and practice locally in South Florida. Most are multilingual. They also will go to a hotel room or office. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week -- even on Christmas.

Mark Price, CEO and co-founder of Coral Gables, Fla.-based My Home Doctor, thinks that what we?ve "seen in health care over the past six years are people like you and me that are highly frustrated with getting primary care treatment. ... The ER for somebody that is not local is very impersonal and scary because they don't know the better hospitals. When you call My Home Doctor you are calling a physician in the community."
