Jose Rosa-Olivares, MD
Pediatric Medical Director
Dr. Rosa-Olivares is board certified in general pediatrics and services as Pediatric Medical Director as well as by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists,which is the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He’s been on staff at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since 1999 and is currently medical director of the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Care Centers and Nicklaus Children’s Urgent Care Centers. Dr. Rosa-Olivares is also a member of the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Medical Executive Committee and board member of Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists.
In addition, he functions as medical director for the South Region of Children’s Medical Services (CMS) and is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. His clinical interests include health care transition and the management of children with special health care needs.
Dr. Rosa-Olivares earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan. He completed both his residency in general pediatrics and a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Rosa-Olivares also holds a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from Barry University in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Rosa-Olivares is board certified in general pediatrics. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has conducted research in areas related to public health, preventive medicine and behavioral medicine. He is frequently interviewed by the media as a subject-matter expert.
